I don't know if it's right to break in password but anyways, I have to agree, so programs are way too over protected, I mean some site are perfectly harmless but stupid programs just won't let you visit them...sigh.
iOpus STARR Computer & Internet Monitoring plus Keylogger [urlhttp://www.iopus.com/download.htm
It logs keystrokes, user names, passwords, path names, access times, windows titles, both sides of a chat conversation, AOL, and visited Web sites into a password-protected encrypted file. The encrypted log file can be converted to plain text, HTML, or spreadsheet
Just a warning, I nevered used such a program so I don't know how effective it might be, you can read reviews about it at DOWNLOAD.COM http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=iOpus+Password&tg=dl-2001&search=+Go%21+[/url] |

I have a friend who had that problem too.
His original plan was to simply delete the program, an action which, of course, required a password (that part I dont totally understand - why not just delete it in dos mode?). In the end, my advice was to "relocate" the regestry tag. Never a safe idea, but very effective against self-activating or regestered software.
Somehow I feel obligated to say that tinkering with the regestry is always a stupid idea - no safeguards. MS could have very easily put in such safeguards (like SAVING A CONFIGURATION? Duuhhhh...), for for one reason or another, decided in the negative.

the whole reason the registry is there is to have an easy and fast place to put info for programs, users arnt supposed to mess with it, they do under their own risk, adding in extra checks and stuff would make it less efficient and defiet its purpose. |
